How to choose the right model for your summer outings
When the days get longer and the sun finally makes its presence felt, the cooler quickly becomes our best companion. Whether it's for a picnic in the park, a camping trip, or an afternoon at the Aquapark, there's a cooler perfect for every outing. But with so many models, it's not always easy to make the right choice! Here's a handy little guide to help you find the one that'll follow you everywhere you go this summer.
1. For a day at the beach or at the Aquapark
Your need: lightness and practicality.
Choose:
- A soft cooler with a shoulder strap, easy to carry.
- Capacity of approximately 12 to 24 cans (enough for juice, soda, water and some snacks).
- A model with waterproof lining to prevent leaks.
Tip: Choose a model with a small exterior pocket to slip in sunscreen or utensils.
2. For camping or long trips
Your need: performance and extended conservation.
Bet on:
- A hard-sided cooler with thick insulation and a tight-fitting lid.
- A capacity of 50 to 100 liters, depending on the length of stay.
- Sturdy casters and handles for easy movement.
For seasoned campers: Some high-end coolers, like Yeti or Pelican models, keep ice for up to 5 to 7 days.
3. For family picnics
Your need: practical format and compartments.
Choose:
- A medium-sized cooler, hard or soft.
- Separate compartments for drinks and food.
- A lid with built-in cup holders or a flat surface that can be used as a side table.
Some hybrid models can be worn as a backpack – perfect for walks in the forest before a picnic!
4. For special occasions
Your need: XXL capacity and robustness.
In this case:
- Choose a giant cooler of 100 liters or more.
- With reinforced lid, can be used as a seat.
- With drainage plug to easily drain melted water.
Some electric or plug-in coolers (12V) can even keep your food cool continuously—an option to consider for extended events.
You now have everything you need to choose the best cooler for your needs! Now it's time to book your stay at the Domaine 😉
